Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajouri organizes training programme for farmers

JAMMU, September 15: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajouri under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu and under the auspices of Directorate of Extension Education, SKUAST-J organised training on “Agronomic practices of Gobhi Sarson and Mustard for enhanced productivity” at Narian in which about one hundred farmers participated.

This training programme was specially organized keeping in view the ensuing Rabi season and consequently to make farmers aware, well in advance, about the various agronomic practices for enhancing the production and productivity of oilseeds in general and mustard, gobhi sarson in particular in the area. It is pertinent to mention that this region is not self-sufficient in oilseeds as wheat occupies most of the area during Rabi season.



By organizing training, an attempt has been made by KVK, Rajouri to bring self reliance in oilseeds in the area. Dr. A. P. Singh, SMS, Agronomy was the lead speaker during the training. While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Singh addressed the various issues related to the oilseed scenario in the region, constraints being encountered by the farmers and devise various strategies to overcome constraints to experience a boom in the production of oilseeds.

Dr. S. B. Singh, Programme Coordinator and Dr. Rakesh Sharma, SMS, Agricultural Extension, KVK, Rajouri also made the farmers aware about the various schemes being run by KVK, Rajouri for the benefit of farmers.

The training was also attended by the officials of Department of Agriculture, Sh. Amit Mahajan, Programme Assistant, KVK, Rajouri, Sarpanch, Panches, Ward members, progressive farmers of the area and apprised the scientists that this training programme is the first of its kind that is being conducted in this area.

The training programme was highly appreciated by all the farmers and requested that similar type of activities should be conducted in this area from time to time.
