Inter-state gang of truck lifters busted, 3 held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 14: Police today claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of truck lifters by arresting three of its members and recovering a truck worth Rs 15 lakh from them. Narwal police, on a specific input, seized a truck carrying fake No JK02AM/440 and
detained its driver Jatinder Singh, son of Karan Singh of Palpor in Qazigund, Kashmir. During inquiry from RTO office, it became known that the number had been alloted to
a 2009 model motorcycle. While probing further, police came to know that the original number of the truck was
HR46B/0278 and it was registered in the name of Vikram Singh, son of Daya Ram of
Rafiabas in Rewari, Haryana. Police sources said Narveer Singh, son of Jagjit Singh of Upper Beli Charana had
purchased the truck from Subash of Pathankote through Sarabjeet Singh, son of
Gurcharan Singh of Jagial Colony, Pathankote for Rs 5 lakh while the actual cost of the
truck was around Rs 12 to 13 lakh. The truck was stolen from Alwar in Rajasthan in March this year and a case in this
regard was registered at the concerned police station. Subash, from whom Narveer Singh purchased the truck, was already involved in truck
theft cases and Punjab police had recovered trucks worth Rs 2 to 3 cr from him. The gang operated in north and north-west areas of the country. "Its members steal
trucks from different states, get their engine and chassis number changed and then
