| NSF flays JU administration for inhuman condition in Nehru Hostel | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Sept 15: The students and scholars of Jammu University under the banner of National Secular Forum(NSF) held demonstration against University administration at Nehru Hostel Complex. They were protesting against the lack of facilities and complete mess in the Nehru Hostel. The protesters raised slogans against the Vice Chancellor and flayed him for hoax calls of development in the campus.
NSF president Vikas Sharma said one & half month ago Vice Chancellor Prof Varun Sahni paid visit to the Nehru Hostel along with Provost and Executive Engineer. He himself had seen the poor infrastructural conditions in the Hostel and directed the officials to repair and maintain the same.
But, a month & half has been passed but no repair has been done by the Works Department nor the Warden of Provost bothered to follow the order of VC. It proves that VC has lost control over his subordinates and they hardly follow his orders. Whereas, the scholars putting up at Hostel are facing inhuman condition in the Hostel owing to lack of repair and maintenance. The rooms are flooded with rain water and the belongings of the scholars have been damaged.
“Water leaks from roof during rains and we have made several requests to the authorities’ concerned but all in worthless. Water is still trickling down defilement our books and beds but there is no water in toilets and bathroom, “an angry Scholar said.
The NSF has also demanded from the State Government to throw Vice Chancellor out of the campus with immediate effect. And also opposed extension to him.
Among those who were present in the protest included, Shafqat Malik, Surjit Choudhary, Vikram, Parshotam Singh, Amit, Manjit Singh, Anil Sharma, Zulfikar, Kd Singh, Mahinder Singh, Satwant Singh and others.
