NRHM Sammelan held at Sumbal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Sep 15:District Rural Health Society Bandipora today organized NRHM Samelan at Sumbal in Sonawari. Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone was the chief guest while Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma presided over the function. MLA Gurez, Nazir Gurezi, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Lone, Director Health Service besides other senior officers, Sarpanches and Panches were among others in the programme. In his speech, Lone said the government has taken several initiatives to strengthen rural healthcare adding primary healthcare has been universalized under the flagship programme of NRHM. The Speaker advised doctors to serve people with missionary spirit, reminding them the significance of protection and promotion of public health as well as the responsibility they are vested with. Speaking on the occasion, Sham Lal Sharma said the Centre has released Rs 400 crore to augment health infrastructure in rural and far-off areas, adding the government has made available specialized healthcare services in rural areas for the improvement of healthcare delivery system. He said fair implementation of NRHM will help to reduce mortality rate in the State. The Health Minister said the government is contemplating a comprehensive and efficient transfer policy, the basic objective of which is to provide equitable medicare services in all the regions of the State and ensure full stay of doctors and specialists in all the areas. Sham said Rs 24.32 crore district hospital is coming up in Bandipora, assuring its completion by next year. He said an AMT School will also be made operational in the district the next year.
