CVPA protests against traffic department | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, September 15: Chenab Valley People’s Association held a protest demonstration against the transport department and traffic department. Large number of activists of CVP A gathered under the leadership of state president Fairoz Khan at Jammu university and protested against the said authorities. They were holding placards and were raising slogans “transport department Murdabad” , “ traffic department Murdabad”, “transport Department Hai Hai”. They also observed two minutes silence for the peace of soul who were killed in the recent accident in Ramban.
Addressing the gathering, Fairoz Khan expressed shock on the degrading transport system in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that it was a shame that even after the enormous growth in the transport problems, the State did not have an effective road transport policy. He asked the policy makers to wake up.
He said that it is the matter of great concern that the number of accidents in Doda , Ramban and Kishtwar areas i.e Chenab Valley are increasing day by day. Most of the accidents are reported from the Chenab valley. In every two months 30 to 40 people die and in round about same places and roads.
The drivers are driving without licenses driving at full speed and with people packed doubled the capacity of the vehicle they have, the condition of the roads is also very deplorable.
The accidents happen again and again in the Chenab valley. Some times in Ramban , sometimes in Doda and sometimes in Kishtwar. The Chenab valley has become one of the most accident prone areas of the State. When a person rides a bus or matador in morning he does not know whether he will reach home in the evening and his family keep waiting and remains at toes till he reaches.
But the transport department and Authorities are waiting for something don't know what.
The conditions of link roads in the Doda, Kishtwar, particularly in Ramban i.c Makarkote -Ukhrallink road, Ukhral- Sinabhiti, Ukhral-Shalgadi, Ukhral-Pinloga, Maroog, Digdool Neel link road is very bad and are the most prone to accidents.
He asked the transport department to verify the ground situation and take proper steps to not only make rules but also see to that such rules are properly implemented so that the occurrence of such accidents will be curbed.
