Pak troops last night opened firing on a forward Indian outpost at Jagowal in Akhnoor sector, official sources said. The outpost is located very close to river Chenab, which divides Indian and Pakistani posts. The army men had halted at a safer place due to the rise in water level and were returning to the post when Pak troops opened fire at them, the sources added. India retaliated. Small arms were fired and the exchange of bullets lasted about half an hour. The troops returned to the post after the water level decreased. On Tuesday morning the BSF troops had also pushed back a group of infiltrators when they were trying to sneak into Indian territory via Basantar river in Ramgarh Sector of Samba district. |
