Interlocutors to submit final report before Oct 12 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Sept 16:- The 3-member team of Kashmir interlocutors on Friday said that they would submit the final report to central government in first week of October. Talking to KNS chief interlocutor Dileep Padgonkar said, “Our term comes to an end on October 12. The report will be handed over before that. There will be absolutely no delay.” He rejected speculations that they have recommended making special status for J&K under Article 370 of the Constitution as a “permanent” one. “This is speculation and I don’t respond to such speculation.” The interlocutors visited border district Samba on Thursday where they met groups of panches and sarpanches besides 20 odd delegations representing political parties, civil rights and civil society groups yesterday. “We visited Samba yesterday and remaining three district in Kashmir we will visit from Saturday. So far we have met about 700 delegations and 5000 people and our final report will be based on it,” he told KNS. Asked to comment on the report of State Human Rights Commission about unmarked graves in north Kashmir, he said, “I can’t comment on it as I’ve no information about it. We will address a press conference before leaving Srinagar.” He said that they were in constant touch with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram. “We have mandate of Prime Minster, Sonia Gandhi and Home Minister and I hope our recommendations will be implemented,” he added. The interlocutors are scheduled to arrive in Kashmir on a three-day visit starting from Saturday.
