| Various functions to commemorate birth anniversary of Shiekh Abdullah held at Sgr | | Umar inaugurates children’s park at Hazuri Bagh | |
Srinagar, Dec 5 In connection with observance of 101-birth anniversary of former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, an impressive function was held at his tomb in Naseem Bagh Hazaratbal today where recitation of Holy Quran was performed and Fatteh offered to the departed soul. A large number of people including patron National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah, MP and president National Conference Mr. Umar Abdullah, General Secretary National Conference Sheikh Nazir Ahmad and opposition leader in JK Assembly, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather attended the Fateh Khwani of Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah and laid wreaths at his grave. Provisional National Conference President Dr. Mehboob Baigh, Deputy Speaker Mr. Akbar Lone legislators Mr. Ali Muhammad Sagar, Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Mr. Mubark Gul, Mir Saifullah, Ms. Sakeena Yatoo, Mr. Kaiser Jamsheed, Mr. Javeed Rana, Mayor, Srinagar Municipal Corporation and its corporators besides Muhammad Shafi Pandit and Ex-Chief Secretary, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool also attended the function. On the occasion, the speakers paid rich tributes to late leader and lauded his role in freeing people from autocratic rule. They said that Sheikh Abdullah relentlessly fought for strengthening the secular and social fabric of multi-lingual and multi-culture state. He took revolutionary steps for steering the people of state out of poverty and backwardness towards political and social emancipation. On the occasion, Department of Information and Public Relations organized a photo exhibition and screened documentary on the life and achievements of Late SM Abdullah. MP and president National Conference, Mr. Umar Abdullah inaugurated Children’s Park at Hazuri Bagh today. The park developed on modern lines has all amusements available for the children. Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Mr. Ajaz Iqbal and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
