Hike in Petrol prices condemned widely | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 16:-Jammu Regional Committee of CPI (M) has strongly condemned the increase in the price of petrol by Rs.3.14 per litre. In a meeting of CPI (M) held in its office chamber under the chairmanship of its Secretary Comrade Sham Prasad Kesar, the members said that this is third increase in the price of petrol this year adding that it comes at a time when inflation is touching double digit and people have no respite from the price rise of essential commodities. The move will only have a cascading effect on inflation and price rise. The people of the country can see that the Congress-led government is itself responsible for stoking price rise and inflation by such measures. The CPI (M) demands the roll back of this price rise and restoring the administrative regulation of pricing of petrol.
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha today held a protest demonstration against the hike in petrol prices. Led by their State President Munish Sharma, hundreds of BJYM activists took out a march in Kachi Chawni Chowk by pulling a car with the help of ropes to register protest against the recent hike in the price of petrol. They were carrying party flags and raising slogans against the Congress-led UPA for allowing hike in the petrol prices. Munish Sharma, on this occasion, said that the present Congress-led UPA has become the synonymous of “Mehangayee”. Meanwhile BJP Mahila Morcha activists under the leadership of Morcha State President Sakina Bano held a massive protest at Gole Market area in Gandhi Nagar against this price hike. Sakina Bano, while addressing the morcha activists, said that petrol price hike or hike in price of any other essential commodity has worst effect on women as their kitchen budget gets disturbed. She said that frustration among women may culminate into strong reaction against the government for its anti-poor and anti-people policies. She warned the government to withdraw the recent price hike of petrol adding that the Union government should not make any hike in LPG, as is being reported. CPI (M) State Secretary and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today flayed central government for hiking petrol prices by Rs 3, saying the step up in the fuel prices entails cascading effect on all commodities that hits the interests of the poor and lower middle class. In a statement here today, he said the deregulation of petrol prices will continue price hike phenomenon, which he said has been hitting common man, who is already reeling under nearly double digit inflation rate. Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) held a massive protest demonstration against the hike in petrol prices. Alleging that it will break the back bone of the common man in the country, protesters burnt the effigies of central government. President JWAM Sunil Dimple reached among the protesters venue on Cycle and with L P G Cylinder on his shoulders. As soon as Dimple reached venue People started raising slogans against the UPA government. Hundreds of irate people, traders, and the activists under the banner of Jammu West Assembly Movement took out a massive "Vishal protest Rally" and "Shav Yatra" of the Congress led Central UPA Government against its failure to control. " Addressing the protesters, Sunil Dimple President Jammu West Assembly Movement demanded the resignation from the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh as his Govt. has totally failed to control the rising prices in the country. He appealed the people of the state and country to throw out the UPA Govt. out of power for its complete failure.
