Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 16: The resentment is brewing in Congress against the senior coalition partner whom its senior leaders and ex ministers continue to blame for not honoring the coalition dharma. Right from the formation of the coalition in the state headed by Omar Abdullah in 2008, the two alliance partners were never comfortable with each other and both the partners were in alliance for certain compulsions.
According to sources Congress leaders continue to find fault with the style of functioning of the Chief Minister and his ministerial colleagues and this blame game still continues from the side of junior alliance partner. Though the Central leadership may try to brush all the questions about the bickering among the coalition partners but Congmen in the state including party legislators are not happy with the functioning of Omar Abdullah Government, sources added.
Sources said some of the senior party leaders in the state have taken serious exception to the recent statements of Chief Minister advocating for clemency to dreaded terrorist Afzal Guru and terming Kashmir a political problem. These senior leaders have also apprised the Party High Command about their displeasure saying this way NC was trying to have one up-manship over the Hurriyat and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to gain its lost ground in Valley, sources added.
Sources said that Congmen in the state are of the view that this all is being done by the NC leadership to boost the morale of its cadres who are disturbed after shifting of loyalty by its supporters to PDP and Hurriyat Conference.
Sources said that by making some provoking statements the NC wanted Congress to come out from coalition so that it can make a point and please its constituency in Valley that Omar Abdullah sacrificed the Government for the cause. The Party leaders have also taken serious exception to the recent statement of a junior Minister from National Conference who is also a close confident of CM for saying that Omar Abdullah is the first Chief Minister who had taken a bold stand on Kashmir issue.
Sources said that Congress that a senior Congress leader and former Minister has recently said that his Party will not be a mute spectator to this all as it is totally disturbed over the bringing of resolutions in the State Assembly by an Independent MLA on Afzal Guru and another by a PDP MLA for redefining the boundaries of the J&K. This is a serious issue from the national point of view and Congress will react against this at appropriate time the Congress leader has reportedly said.
The Party also feels humiliated over the action of NC which nominated five councilors in Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil from its own while ignoring its junior coalition partner, sources said, adding the Congress leaders have termed this action of NC totally against the coalition dharma saying that Congress is also in alliance with NC in LAHDCK. But after ignoring the Party in making the nominations to the Council, the NC has tried to outwit the Party, feel the Congress leadership in the state, sources added.
Sources said the matter was also brought in the notice of PCC chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz by the senior leaders of the Party recently who expressed their displeasure over such action of NC and urged him to take up all these vital issues with AICC chief Sonia Gandhi.
