Where 22,000 teachers are posts Shri Peerzada? | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 16: The State Government recently announced 22,000 posts of teachers would be filled up on priority in Jammu and Kashmir. Education minister, Peerzada Sayeed made the announcement at a well attended function in presence of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in summer capital Srinagar. The announcement had definitely come as a welcome surprise to thousands of educated unemployed youth in the State who have completed their graduate, post graduate and even Ph.D degrees, but have been running from pillar to post looking for a job. The sufferings of the unemployed educated youth are borne more by their parents who have reached the later part of their lives and are no longer now able to support their families. Such parents have spent all their life's earnings educating their children. The tragedy is that the lofty announcement made by the State Government through the education minister is fast turning out to be yet another mirage for the frustrated unemployed youth of the State. When contacted the director of school education Kashmir said there were just around four thousand available vacancies of teachers in the Valley those had already been referred to the administrative secretariat. Similarly, director school education Jammu has also confirmed that vacancies those were available which added up to roughly around three thousand had been referred to the administrative secretariat for being filled up. Queries at the administrative secretariat have revealed that all the available vacancies of teachers in the State have already been referred to the Subordinate Services Recruitment Board for being advertised and filled up through a proper selection process. Thus, the net result is that hardly seven thousand vacancies of teachers are to be filled up through the recruitment process by the SSB and for which the selection process had already been set in motion. Now the bigger question remains. Where are the 22,000 posts which the State education minister has been talking about? Why did the State Education Minister, who is also a senior leader of the Congress party, have to make an announcement which does not have any substance? The Minister had been speaking at a function in summer capital Srinagar on the Teachers' Day. What could be a bigger joke on the teachers and the education system of the State other than the Minister himself making a false promise which does not have an administrative basis? When asked the commissioner/secretary education department said if the hon'ble minister had stated 22,000 posts then he must have had a concrete basis to make such an announcement. "Agar Minister Sahib Ne Bola Hai to Such Hi Bola Hoga", was the reply from the commissioner when asked where were these 22,000 which the minister had been speaking about. Making electoral promises is one thing, but making announcements as responsible minister of the government is quite different. Further queries have shown that if we also deem some five thousand posts of RTs which are still no where in sight, but whose filling up does not have to be referred to any recruitment board, then also the number does not go beyond 12,000. Where are the other 10,000 posts which the government has announced? It must be borne in mind that the creation of five thousand RT posts is simply a presumption had it be a fact then the minister should have made a clear mention of this. Ironical that the Minister of Education should have cracked a cruel joke regarding the filling up of 22,000 teachers posts and that too on the Teachers' Day which do nit exist anywhere. |
