| Poonch lifts inter-district volleyball trophy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 17: Spikers from district Poonch clinched the inter-district (divisional level) volleyball trophy outplaying district Udhampur 3-0 in the final played at Youth Hostel Nagrota here today under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS).
The title contest entertained the crowd of other participating teams and official of the host department as also the special guests. However, the close contest ended in straight sets of 25-23, 25-18, 25-23.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, Udhampur trounced Kathua 2-1 (27-25, 22-25, 15-12) and Poonch outplayed Jammu district in straight but close sets of 25-22, 25-21.
In the final and prize distribution function, Director Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau was chief guest, who gave away medals and trophies to the winners and runners-up team.
Among others present were District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu, Mohd Ayaz Khan. The final and semi-finals were officiated by the penal of officials including Tarsem Singh, Raman Gupta, Mulkh Raj, Raghbir Singh, Ravinder Singh and Bipen Kumar.
In all, 108 players from nine districts of Jammu Division took part in this meet.
