EARLY TIMES REPORT
THATHRI, SEPT 17: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief, Mahbooba Mufti today said the National Conference led government had failed to take forward `our agenda of peace and development’.
The previous coalition regime had not only restored peace but also accelerated developmental activities at large scale through out the state especially in backward and neglected areas. She reminded that previous coalition regime had upgraded and opened new schools, set up health centres at remote areas, constructed new roads, started drinking water schemes and created job avenue for youth. She especially mentioned that the previous coalition regime had given adequate representation of this belt in the government. “Although people of this belt had voted in favour of coalition candidates, representation is not given to this area in the government”, she said. She said that the present dispensation has failed to take benefit of the favourable situation presented to it after 2008 assembly elections”. “It is unfortunate that the present dispensation neither carries forward the peace agenda of the previous coalition government nor follows the development policies”. She observed that instead of taking some effective steps for accelerate developments this regime was indulged in only cosmetic efforts to hoodwink the common massesShe pointed out that corruption has crossed all limits and the deserving people were denied benefits of poverty alleviations schemes like MNREGA due to prevailing corruption in the government.Mahbooba also expressed concern over lack of basic amenities to inhabitants of Inderwal assembly segment. She assured the people that her party would compel the government to solve basic problems of the residents of this backward belt at the earliest.
Addressing a workers meeting at Thathri, Mahbooba said that like other far-flung areas, Inderwal constituency was also badly suffering due to lack of basic amenities likes roads, water, electricity and ration etc. She said that people of this area had to run hitherto dither as their district offices of different departments were function at different places instead of being located at one place. She strongly demanded reorganization of all district offices so as to minimize woes of the people. Ved Mahajan, Shanti Devi, Vijay Dogra, Sheikh Mujib, Attaullah, Raiyaz Zarger, Riyas Idress, Parveen Akthar and others addressed the workers meeting
