DDE Kathua takes stock of arrangements of Navratra festival

Kathua, Sept 17: The arrangements for ensuing Navratra festival commencing from 27th of September, 2011, District Development Commissioner, Kathua Zahidha Parveen Khan convened a meeting of District Officers here at conference hall of DC office, Kathua today. S.E. Hydraulic, Xens PHE, PDD, PWD, Chief Education Officer, R.T.O ,Assistant Director food and supplies, Tehsildar, Executive Officers of Municipal Committees, Officers from traffic and representatives of mandir committees were present in the meeting.
The DDC reviewed all the necessary arrangements to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Yatra at different Goddess shrines of the district, Kathua. In the meeting thread ware discussion for arrangements of Navarra’s which includes transpiration ,sanitation ,adequate drinking water, un-interrupted power supply first- aid facilities, quality of eatables and their rates besides security arrangements and problems of traffic jam
Lakhs of devotees from in and outside the state visits these goddess shrines to pay obeisance of goddess during the Navratra festivals Kathua district is bestowed with famous goddess shines viz Sukerala Mata at Sukerala, Mata Bala Sunduri at Sundrikote in tehsil Billawar, Mata Maha Kali at Jasrota, Mata Asha Purni at Kathua town, Jourian Wali Mata and Dhoula Wali Mata in tehsil Bani Mata Bal sundri at Nagri which attracts lakhs of devotees from in and out side the state during Navratra period.
In view of the heavy rush of devotees the DDC directed the RTO Kathua to ply additional busses for the yatries and directed the traffic department to take effective steps for avoiding over loading over charging by the operators and cleared the traffic jam
The Police department was directed to make adequate security arrangements at all the shrines. She directed The Medical department to make available necessary medical facilities and directed the CMO to deployed the para medical staff shift wise at the shrines
The DDC also directed the PHE department to ensure potable drinking water at the shrines. PDD department also directed to ensure regular supply of power.
In the meeting the DDC directed the Executive Officers of Municipal Committees to ensure cleanliness in the towns particularly around the shrines, and directed CAPD officer to check the quality of eatables along with their rates. Zahida khan exhorted for displaying of rate lists of each essentials commodities at the shop so that the shopkeepers may not over charge from the customers
The members of management committee projected various problems and demands for which the DDC directed the concerned officers for their mitigation;
