HC quashs PSA of 4 bovine smugglers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 17: High court judge, Justice Virender Singh today quashed detention of four bovine smugglers under public safety act (PSA).The court directive came in two habeas corpus petitions filed by Lal Din, Mohammad Sadiq and Manzoor Hussain, all brothers, and Mohammad Iqbal alias Hussain, son of Mian alias Baji, all residents of Samba. All of them were detained under PSA by an order of district magistrate, Samba, issued by him on May 23 last.In his reply, the district magistrate said the detenues were involved in bovine smuggling and their activities were posing a great threat to the public piece and tranquility and security of the state. He said the detenues were caught red-handed while committing the offence. Justice Singh observed that the counsel for the petitioners brought another fact to the HC notice that the detenues had already been discharged by the court of principal
sessions judge, Samba, on July 18, 201. After hearing the two counsels of two sides, the judge quashed their detention orders
and ordered to release forthwith if they were not required in any other case.
