IMFA urges CM to dissolve search committee | | | EARLY TIMES REPOAT Jammu, Sep 18: Institute of Music and Fine Arts Alumni has appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to dissolve the search committee headed by MY Taing formed to select secretary J&K Cultural Academy IMFA rued that the search committee members are mostly from the field of languages and they are trying to influence the Cultural Academy affairs day by day through their sycophants who are fulfilling their all needs. “Chairman as search committee at present is only promoting his sycophants for this post and keeping away deserving candidates to promote his own legacy by inviting their bio data and ignoring applicants from arts and performing arts fields,” said Ashwani Sharma president, IMFA in a press release issued here today. Ashwani Sharma appealed Chief Minister to constitute a non-political person to head the search committee who should not be not less than Chief Secretary of the state and advertise the basic criteria for selection of secretary in all the news paper across the state. At present Academy is in deep crisis. A visionary person is needed at the chair who can bring out Academy from crisis and Government should review the functioning of Academy. According to constitution of Academy, Secretary shall be appointed by CM (President of Academy) in consultation with Culture Minister. IMFAA hopes that young and dynamic CM Omar Abdullah will immediately dissolve the present committee and also set up an enquiry committee in bungling of appointments in the state cultural academy from 2006 from vigilance department.
