| Ex-servicemen rally in Sopore | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Sept 18: An ex-servicemen rally was organized by 22-Rashtriya Rifles (PUNJAB) on Sunday at village Mazbug, Sopore.
According to a defence communiqué the rally was held under the aegis of 5-Sector Rashtriya Rifles. “The rally provided a platform to apprise ex-servicemen about the benefits being provided by the Army and the state government to make the rally meaningful. Officials from Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Records, Zila Sainik Board, ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Army Recruitment Centre, Bank, Postal and Pension officers were in attendance. Medical facilities including specialists and sentist with laboratory facilities were available at the rally,” the statement said,
The rally was attended by 49 ex-servicemen including Veer Naris and widows, from the areas of Sopore and Rafiabad.
Commanding Officer 22-RR and his team of officers were present during the rally. “They carried out informal interaction with ex-servicemen and local populace. The people desired that such rally should be organised more often, aimed at the underdeveloped corners of the north Kashmir,” the statement added.
