| Army swings in action, saves many lives | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Guddar, Sept 18: A heavy downpour started on the morning of 16 Sep with a result all water channels started overflowing.
Four men of Guddar village who were returning from their farms after the day’s work, suddenly found themselves cut off as the place they were standing was inundated with water.
They were cut off from the land route and were in danger of being swept away by fast water current.
Their cries brought around 500 people out of their houses but these people found themselves helpless in front of fast current and incessant rain.
The team of 9 RR alongwith fire department rushed to incident site at eleventh for rescue operation.
Braving the worsening weather conditions the teams of 9 RR quickly established the rope bridge. In an operation which lasted for about five hours the army column showed extreme resilience and rescued all four young men.
As the last boy reached the safe end the tension busted into cheers as the happy family members hugged and kissed their loved ones and thanked the Army team for their timely help.
The efforts of the joint team saved four precious lives on 16 Sep 2011 at Guddar.
