Sham attends Sandhaya Aarti at Jio Pota Ghat Akhnoor

JAMMU, Sep 18:Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma has said that coalition government has intensified its endeavours to meet the aspirations of the common masses, particularly remote and far-flung areas of the state for extending their complete cooperation in this regard.
Minister was interacting with a cross section of people including representatives of various social and religious organizations after attending a religious function ‘Sandhaya Aarti’ Jio Pota Ghat at Akhnoor located on the right bank of River Chenab. The Aarti is organized by the committee every Sankranti at the bank of Chander Bhaga. He also participated in ‘Sandhaya Aarti’ on the bank of River Chenab in late evening which was organized by Committee at Akhnoor.
Jio Pota Ghat at Akhnoor has great historical importance as Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab solemnized coronation of Raja Gulab Singh Ji as Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir at this place.
Felicitating the people on this occasion, the Minister said that all religions show the path which leads to prosperous and peaceful life adding that religions are the moral code of conduct for truthful living.
Sham said that Akhnoor town has witnessed massive development in all sectors because of effective planning. Various schemes R&B, PHE, PDD, Health, Tourism and Education sectors have been initiated to achieve balanced development of the town, he apprised.
Sharma said a comprehensive plan for development of right bank of River Chenab is under progress. He informed that a religious tourism projects is in offing, while a Jhulla Bridge on the pattern of Lakhsman Jhulla and many other development works have been proposed to attract tourists to the area.
He said that Akhnoor Fort and right bank of River Chenab up to old bridge of Akhnoor are developing as heritage site. Later, the Minister visited the Sub District Hospital Akhnoor and took stock of the facilities being provided to the patient.
