ABVP organises state level GK competition | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 18:Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Jammu & Kashmir today organized a state level Sunil Upadhayay Memorial Gyan Pratiyogita (General Knowledge Competition) for the students from 9th to 12th class at various centers across the state. In Jammu there were six examination centres established at Luthra Academy Kachi Chowani, Jain School, Rani Park, S.R. Public School Exchange Road, Centre Basic School Purani Mandi, NSM College of Education Talab Tillo and S.D .Tarapuri School, Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
In Jammu 1500 students from various schools participated in this pratiyogita include Govt Girls Hr. Sec. School Mubarak Mandi, DBN School, Luthra Academy, SRML Hr. Sec. School, Govt. Hari Singh Hr. Sec. School, Arya Public School, Oriental Academy, New Modern School, St Peters School, Shastri Memorial, Shiksha Bhawan Vidyapeeth, Shiksha Niketan, Popular Academy, New Dream Land School, Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School Gandhi Nagar, DBN Talab Tillo, Elite Public School and Montessori School.
Speaking on the occasion ABVP State president Prof. Verinder Koundal said that the aim of the pratiyogita is to substantiate competitive temperament of the students. He further said that by organizing this pratiyogita ABVP wants to give exposure not only to City students but to the students of far flung areas also. He further informed that ABVP organizes Sunil Pandha Memorial Gyan Prtiyogita in the memory of respected Sunil Padha who was an active member of ABVP in Jammu and it was day night effort and hard work which resulted in the from of strong working network in Himachal Pradesh.
At several places across the state, this Pratiyogita was organized at Kathua, Billawar, Samba, Reasi Udhampur, Ramban, R.S. Pura and Leh Ladakh. Total participation across the state was 4549.
There were two categories of students for this pratiyogita. Category 1 comprises 9th -10th, Category 2 - 11th and 12 th. There were four sections in the paper and each section of 25 multiple choice questions i.e. total 100 questions on the topics, General Knowledge, General Science, Maths and Reasoning.
The duration of the test was 90 minutes. Result of this pratiyogita will be declared with in 20 days. The winners from each category will be given cash prize of Rs 1500, Rs 1000 and Rs.500 respectively and three consolations prizes in each category will be awarded in civic function. Students getting above 60% marks will be given certificates of Merit.
