Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust intensified their campaign | | | Early Timers Report
JAMMU, September 19: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust has intensified the campaign to press the state government to move in the forthcoming autumn session of state assembly the bill regarding “Kashmiri Hindus Shrines, Temples and other Properties, Maintenance, Preservation and Management bill”. The trust has been also appealing to the legislators belonging to all the parties to support and pass the bill at the earliest.
To mobilize public opinion for early passage of the bill, the trust members are holding meetings in various localities of Jammu city, particularly those where KP migrants have a sizeable presence.
The meetings are being addressed by the President of the trust Dr. Arjan Nath Pandita, a prominent Kashmiri opinion builder Dr RN Bhat, senior advocate Kashmiri Lal Bhat, Hirday Nath Bhat and other activists of the trust.
The trust leaders have recalled that it was the present Finance Minister Ab. Rahim Rather who, as a leader of the opposition in the previous assembly, had moved a bill for the identical purpose. The bill was, however, withdrawn on the assurance of the government led by the Congress party that it would bring an official bill for the desire purpose. But none came forth till 2009 when the NC led Government came into the office.
Citing that J&K Muslim Wakafs Act, 2001 and J&K Muslim specified Wakaf properties (Mang. & Reg.) Act, 2004 provides protection to the religious places & properties of Muslims in the state and similarly Sikh Gurudawara and religious endowment Act, 1973 provides such type of protection to the religious places and properties of Sikhs, the KP organizations have been demanding similar Act to protect their religious places and temples, which lately for being vandalized and encroached upon some greedy elements. |
