NSF alleges favouritism in Board of Technical Education
9/20/2011 10:41:25 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sep 19:
National Secular Forum (NSF) president Vikas Sharma has expressed his grave concern over the alleged favouritism and nepotism that is being exhibited in State Board of Technical Education (SBOTE).

Addressing a press conference here today, NSF president Vikas Sharma questioned the vacant status of the post of Secretary SBOTE after the retirement of BR Verma on August 30 last. Since then the charge of the post lies with Commissioner Technical Education, Roniyal as additional charge.

One fails to understand as to why the post is still vacant despite having so many talented and senior officials working in the department.

Highly placed sources has revealed to NSF that Roniyal is moving from pillar to post in the power lobby to seek extension in the services of Verma perhaps to accomplish their alleged vested and corrupt designs.

NSF strongly opposes any such move which will amount to the extension in the services of Verma.

Sharma alleged that BR Verma has a long tainted service history and has been holding a corrupt image in the public and the departmental levels.

Verma was booked in the Computer Purchase Scam by Vigilance Organisation Jammu in year 2006 and a case vide FIR no 53/2006 (Prevention of Corruption Act). Surprisingly nothing solid has happened since then. No further action was initiated against the official and ironically Verma got promotion after this incident.

Further there have been continuous complaints against Verma and his group of malpractices including Illegal allotment of seats to private colleges and other irregularities.

NSF strongly demands a commission against Verma and his associates in corruption and equally opposes any move that will amount to extension in his services.

NSF strongly appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the concerned Minister to take strong action against Verma and his associates and thwart any move regarding his extension.
