Kishtwar plunged into darkness | 20 MVA transformer at NHPC yard develop technical snag | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KISHTWAR, Sep 20:-Entire Kishtwar District late last night plunged into darkness due to technical snag and bursting of earthing transponder of 20 MVA transformer planted at NHPC yard Kishtwar. According to officials of Power Development Department, it will take at least 3 days for the authorities to restore the electricity to Kishtwar District. The officials said that a team of TLMD Division II headed by AEE Ajaiz Fani have reached Kishtwar to ascertain the damage as the earthing transponder have broken into two after heavy blast has been witnessed in it last night. The official said that the damaged part requires to be completely changed and the same is available at Srinagar for which the teams have already been dispatched. The said that as soon as the damaged part will reach Kishtwar, power will be restored to Kishtwar District with in next 24 hours. Meanwhile the NHPC authorities as a goodwill gesture provided 4.5 MVA power to Kishtwar District out of his 12.5MVA transformer to run essential services like hospital, Banks and telephone exchange. The power will be provided to the general public for 1 hour in 5 hour slot. It is worthwhile to mention that few years back, the same 20 MVA transformer was replaced with new transformer within 20 days after its installation.
