'Aazadi slogans' reverberate at Interlocutors' meet | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Kupwara: Sep 20:-The Kashmir Interlocutors appointed by New Delhi had to face an embarrassing situation as 'Azadi slogans reverberated' during their meeting with people and recently elected representatives of panchayats at Dak Banglow, here on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses said that the trouble erupted when Mohammad Assadullah Magray of Kandi Keygam came to the podium alleging some top official from district administration demanded a bribe of Rupees 1000 from him.
However, the people stopped him saying the stage was to discuss only Kashmir issue.
Sources said that in the meantime some men in uniform whisked away the youth which agitated the participants including panches and sarpanches.
They lodged a strong protest demonstration and chanted Aazadi slogans that surprised the interlocutors.
The people demanded the immediate release of the youth, they said.
Sources said, the chief interlocutor Dileep Padgoankar, left his seat in search of the youth.
It was Radh Kumar, who took the stage and tried to convince the agitating people.
"She asked people to be patient and assured them that her colleague Padgoankar will bring the youth back and would be given a patient listening," sources added.
Things became normal when the youth was brought back and was given a patient listening, they concluded.
