Kissan Movement takes out procession in support of demands

KATHUA, Sep 20:Thousands of farmers held a procession under the banner of Kissan Movement in favour of their long pending genuine demands including opening procurement centre through JAKFED and to provide Rs 1080 rupees per quintal as per the centre government policy for paddy produce.
The procession started from Mukherji Chowk and culminated at DC office Kathua under the leadership of district president of Kissan Movement Hurmat Singh.
Kissan Movement submitted a demand charter to the state government through district administration.
While addressing the gathering president Hurmat Singh urged the state coalition government to formulate a concrete and effective agriculture policy in order to keep the protection and welfare of the farmers as well as common man of the state.
He said that the farmers are suffering from so many problems, they have no adequate and required infrastructure to procure their produce and lacking at large the any support from the state government while the private players are so active to befool the farmers to plunder their produce and it is surprising that in this connection the state governments is totally salient due to which the condition of the farmers is deteriorating day by day.
On the occasion the former power minister Babu Singh and the Tehsil president Daya Ram, District vice president Jai Singh, sec Karam Chand, Ashwani Sharma, Surinder Sharma (Shindu), Tarsem Saini, Sardar Jaswant Singh also addressed the farmers and said that the protest dharna of Kisaan Movement at Mukharji Chowk Kathua will continue till the demands are not met.
