Arrangements for conducting 13th rally raid-de Himalaya discussed

SRINAGAR, Sep 21:-With a view to promote adventure tourism in the State, the 13th Rally Raid-de Himalaya India’s largest and the world’s highest rally would run from the 9th - 17th October 2011 of the 6 racing legs four will be in J&K and the other two in Hamachal Pardesh.
The event is organizing by National repute Himalaya Motor-sports Shimla and J&K Tourism department would be co-organizer of the event.
In order to discuss various arrangements being carried out several departments, the Tourism and Culture Minister, Nawang Rigzin Jora chaired a high level meeting of civil, police, security and BEACON officers here today.
Minister of State for Tourism and Home, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani was present on the occasion.
Threadbare discussion was held for smooth conduct of rally. The concerned officers assured their full cooperation for making the event a success one.
Giving details of the event, President Himalaya Motor Sports, Vijay Parimar said that the event have 6 racing legs four will be in Jammu and Kashmir and other two in Himachal Pradesh. He said the event would be completed in two categories which would take different routes to Zanskar traversing separately the first four legs of the event and join for the balance two legs. He said the relay would conclude at Srinagar on 16th October and prize distribution would be at SKICC at 17th October.
Jora said that organizing such rallies would prove beneficial to promote adventure tourism in the State in a large way. He stressed upon the concerned authorities to make all necessary arrangements well in time for making the event a success one.
Commissioner/Secretary Tourism and Culture, Atul Duloo, Directors Tourism, Kashmir Farooq Ahmed Shah, R S Mehta, IG Traffic, H. K. Lohia, Special Secretary Tourism, Altaf Ahmed and other senior officers of civil, police and security departments attended the meeting.
