Traffic Awareness Week from Sep 26 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Sep 21:-In order to regulate the traffic management system and avoid further humane losses in the valley, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Abdul Majid Mir today directed Red Cross and Civil Defence Organizations to provide volunteers for utilizing their services and keep a close contact with Traffic Department for smooth functioning of traffic management and creating awareness about traffic hazards. In this connection, he said that traffic awareness week would be launched from September 26, 2011 to aware the common people especially the Drivers and Vehicle owners about traffic rules. This was stated by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir in meeting held in his Office Chamber here today. On this occasion, the Divisional Commissioner directed all the vehicle holders’ especially public transporters for keeping compulsorily Firs-Aid kits in their vehicles, so that in case of any mishap, the injured passengers can be provided immediate relief. The Divisional Commissioner took a strong note of misusing Red-Cross Emblem and warned that this kind of ignorance cannot be tolerated any more in the future. He said that any body found indulging in this activity would be booked under the law of land. Meanwhile, The Associations of KMDA and Taxi Owners assured the Divisional Commissioner for full cooperation to make programme successful. The meeting was attended by SP, Traffic (City) Maqsoo-uz-Zaman, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Srinagar, Secretary Regional Red Cross Committee, Abdul Jabbar Chakat, Deputy controller ,Civil Defence, Head Disaster Management, General Secretary, KMD Association and President of Taxi Drivers Association.
