Universalizing improved medicare service basic objective of NRHM: Sham | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Sep 21:-Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma today said that Jammu and Kashmir has received whopping Rs. 400 crores under National Rural Health Mission to universalize improved medicare service in rural areas. The focus, he said is on augmenting basic health infrastructure and reducing mortality rate. Addressing National Rural Health Mission Sammelan at Shopian, the Minister said 25000 doctors and 15000 paramedics are actively engaged in extending health care to the people across J&K. This manpower has been asked to be on toes and deliver duties to the satisfaction of masses, he maintained. Calling upon Panches and Sarpanches as also ASHA and A/W workers to discharge their duties with zeal and zest, the Minister said synergy among field functionaries and village level leaders will bring further improvement in the implementation of flagship programme of NRHM. Has said health service is one of the focused area of the coalition government. Minister of State for Health Javid Ahmed Dar, in his speech highlighted the role of ASHAs in reaching out every family in all the villages for availing health benefits under NRHM. Sham Lal, on the occasion honoured two ASHA workers namely Hatiza Akhtar and Hanifa Akhtar for their all round best performance, handing them over citation and cash award. MLA Shopian, Abdul Razzaq Zawoora, MLA Rajpora, Sayeed Bashir Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner M S Sood, Director Health, Saleem-ul-Rehman, Mission Director, Jashpal Sharma, Director family welfare, Ramesh Khajuria, Director ISM, Dr Kabir, Project Director AIDS, Dr Waseem Qureshi, among otherswere present on the occasion.
