| Kashmiri children interact with Maj Gen Menon | | | Udhampur, Dec 5 A group of 35 Kashmiri children from the valley on their return from an educational tour to Jammu, Pune, Mumbai and Ahmednagar interacted with Major General Prakash Menon at Northern Command HQs at Udhampur. The tour was sponsored by the Army for the children including12 girls of Army Good Will Schools to expose the children of the valley to the rich culture and development of the country. The Army has initiated a number of projects as part of its Military Civic activities under Operation Sadbhavna. Apart from excursions and educational tours, the Army provides coaching in Information Technology, typing classes, training for recruitment to the needy children besides infrastructure and special security for running of schools wherever required. Major General enquired from the children about their experience of the tour, extolled them to utilize this experience to add value to their life work towards a future that is progressive and achievement oriented. He said that the environment in the Valley is improving at a very fact pace and the people have displayed their abhorrence for the cult of terrorism and violence and have demonstrated their faith in democracy. He encouraged the children to work towards converting their state into a paradise on earth, more prosperous, developed, tolerant and progressive than all other regions that they have visited.
