| Release arrears to pensioners in single instalment: JWO | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sep 21:
Jammu Welfare Organization (JWO) has expressed its deep concern over the plight of pensioners of the state Government.
In a meeting of the organization held here today under the chairmanship of Kasturi Lal Gupta and General Secretary Gopal Krishan, the memebrs said that it is most unfortunate that in the road maps for payment of 6th Pay Commission arrear even the pensioners, who are senior citizens of this society have been chosen for step motherly treatment by promising to release arrear that too in five annual instalments.
By every stretch of imagination at this present ratio only a few of the pensioners will be fortunate enough to receive entire amount during their life time as per the road map.
The house through a unanimous resolution appealed the state Govt to release this 6th Pay Commission arrear in respect of retired employees in a single instalment.
House further expressed its concern and resentment over the fact that pensioners are also getting the meagre monthly Medical Allowance @ Rs 300 per month. They called upon all the legislators to press upon this Government to enhance the medical allowance to Rs 1000 per month.
