Delhi lifts NZ U-14 cricket trophy

EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Sept 21: Splendid innings of 120 runs played by Salil Malhotra today guided Delhi to lift the North Zone under-14 boys’ cricket trophy beating Himachal Pradesh on the basis of first innings lead at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, here.
With the help of Malhotra’s brilliant century, Delhi made 251 runs for the loss of five wickets in 95 overs play on the second day today.
Jonty Sidhu also played superb innings of 54 runs to help his side surpass the Himachal Pradesh’s first innings total of 179 runs. Fro Himachal Pradesh,
Jonty, who scored 373 runs and scalped 11 wickets in this tournament, was declared man of the series. He was awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
The only centurion boy, Salil Malhotra was adjudged man of the match. He was awarded Rs 2,500.
In the prize distribution function, treasurer of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Manzoor Ahmad Wazir was chief guest. Among others present were joint secretary, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, vice chairman, Kashmir wing, Javaid Ahmad Kitab and chairman selection committee, Rouf Ahmad.
