DGP inaugurates weapons exhibition at GDC Udhampur

Udhampur, Sept 21: Next in connection with the ongoing Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the College, Govt. Degree College (Boys) Udhampur organised a Weapons’ Exhibition Shourya Shastra in the college multipurpose Hall in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Police dept. The purpose of this endeavor is to grow in the youth a sense of pride and bravery for the motherland that our ancestors have always fought for.

Kuldeep Khoda, Director General of J&K Police was the chief guest who inaugurated the exhibition along with IGP Jammu Dilbag Singh, Director of SKPA Udhampur, Ashok Gupta, Basir Khan and many other dignitaries.

In his address, Khoda congratulated the college for its innovative endeavors during Golden Jubilee Year especially infrastructure development. Addressing the August gathering, comprising of officers, academicians, member of civil society, staff and students, he said that pursuing the objectives of the institution sincerely shall certainly produce capable students. He specially appreciated the NCC parade and the efforts of the college to give the students an exposure towards their cultural heritage through activities like exhibition. He also interacted with the poor students of the college and announced to sponsor fee, uniform and books of 30 poor students.

In his address, Dilbag Singh lauded the efforts of the college to organise the exhibition and requested the intelligentsia to be an active part of such activities .A march past was also held in which NCC troupes of various school and colleges participated.

Earlier the programme began with the welcome address by the Principal of the college who gave a brief account of developmental activities of the college and future endeavors that help it gain a prominent place in the entire academic fraternity of the country.Various war veterans were also honored posthumously on this occasion for their invaluable service to the nation. It includes Mate. Krishan Lal, L/NK Rajneesh Kumar, S.I Gian Chand, Ct. Shabir Ahmed, Ct. Raj Kumar, Ct. Govind singh, Ct. Mohd. Kabir chandail, Sub. Karan Singh.

Those who immensely supported the conduct of exhibition include Th. Vikram Singh Slathia, Anil Paba, Col. Sukhdev Singh Sambyal , Prof. Anita Billoria ,Th. Aniroodan Singh Sambyal, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle and Th. Ishri Singh Sambyal.

This exhibition shall be open to all students and members of civil society for the next two days. The exhibition displays various Weapons and Medals of heritage as well as contemporary significance. A Bravery medal of Sardool Singh a world war I remained the cynosure. Prof. Sudhir Singh Convener Heritage Club of the college and Dr. Revika Arora conducted the proceeding. Prof. Romilla Malla proposed the formal vote of thanks.
