NC- Congress devise 'mutual strategy' on Guru resolution...? | 'Secret meeting' held by ministers to overcome 'crisis' Confidant CLP skips resolution agenda, Rahul Gandhi's visit discussed | | Saroj Razdan JAMMU, Sept 21: In what can be seen as using the political acumen and 'understanding' to mutual advantage, the two major allies of coalition government NC and Congress are believed to arrived at some 'solution' or way out to overcome possible difficulty and embarrassment over controversial resolution on seeking amnesty for Afzal guru, convict in Parliament attack case. For reasons clear, Congress Legislative Party meeting did not touch upon this subject in an elaborate manner today and instead focussed on ensuing visit of Rahul Gandhi General Secretary of the party to state beginning from Sept 26. Sources said a day ahead of the Congress Legislative Party meeting , the ministers three each from NC and Congress held a 'secret' meeting to find out some 'way' to face the resolution on Guru that would save both the parties politically. The six senior ministers who included AR Rather, Ali Mohammad Sagar and SS Salathia from NC and Taj Mohiuddin, Rigzin Jora and Sham Lal Sharam from Congress held a meeting on Tuesday evening in which political nuances and complexities loaded with this resolution for both the parties. Sources said Congress in particular expressed its predicaments and dilemma in the event of the resolution coming up for debate and voting in the House. NC ministers too are understood to have expressed their political compulsions over the issue, sources added. It is in the light of these compulsions, both the ruling parties are understood to have already devised a 'strategy' that would enable them to surmount the possible crisis both individually as well as to the alliance as a whole. Though what they have decided as of now remains a top secret between the two partners, but it is certainly the only 'possible' and mutually acceptable way that would quell the opposition noise and at the same time checkmate the moves of the rival parties for both the alliance partners. Most likely, even though the resolution has been admitted, it may not for some 'valid' reasons come up for discussion, sources said adding that the government has its ways and means to convince the House on these reasons. As for the meeting of Legislature party of Congress that was held today in Srinagar, sources said for apparent reasons, all the ministers and MLAs of the party looked more than confident and far from any worries over this issue. Though the matter came up in between the course of interactions, some ministers confidently interrupted only to say 'there is no difficulty…..everthing has been sorted out…..on this issue', sources added. However, in order that word doesn't go out (in presence of other allies like PDF and JKDPN) on 'things having been mutually settled by NC and Congress, some senior ministers quipped that a meeting would be held on September 27 evening, a day before the resolution has been scheduled in the business of Assembly, i.e. on September 28. With presence of all the ministers and almost all legislators the CLP focussed its discussion on forthcoming visit of Rahul Gandhi to J&K during which he is scheduled to hold interaction with youth and address a youth rally besides meeting the newly elected panches and sarpanches. It was decided that PCC leadership would extend all help and facilitate the things for all the functions. |
