Poonch girls take home U-19 kabaddi trophy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 22: Outplaying their counterparts from Rajouri district, the Poonch girls today emerged as divisional champion in inter-district under-19 kabaddi tournament which was organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Youth Hostel, Nagrota, near here. Poonch girls hardly faced any difficulty in taking away the title after they emerged victorious by a margin of 21 points in the title clash. Earlier, on the basis of their performance in the league round, four teams of Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri and Udhampur qualified for the semifinals. In the semi-finals, Jammu girls were beaten by district Rajouri by a margin of 19 points while Poonch outplayed Udhampur by a hefty difference of 31 points. The final was witnessed besides others by District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSS), Mohd Ayaz Khan. He gave away winners and runners-up trophies. Today’s matches were officiated by Jasdev Singh, Satpal, Rampaul, Subash Chander, Basharat Khan, Sanjit Singh, Ashok Kumar, Gulbir Singh, Ajit Singh, Bua Ditta, Sadiq Hussain, Kartar Dogra, Javed and Mir Alam. In all, nine districts of Jammu Division took part in this three-day league-cum-knock out competition.
