| RR undertakes afforestation of Baba Shakruddin Shrine | | |

Brigadier TK Sinha, Commander 5 Sector Rashtriya Rifles today inaugurated the ecological project undertaken for afforestation of Baba Shakruddin Shrine. As part of this project, 4000 trees of various species mainly were planted. This project has been executed in consultation with the J&K Board for specific Wakf and Wakf properties – Sub Unit Baba Shakruddin, Watlab (Sopore).
Over a period of time, due to tree cutting, soil erosion, the mountains of this sacred shrine do not bear any trees. There is, thus, an urgent need to check soil erosion to prevent further loss of rich flora. Feeling this need, 5 Sector RR undertook this afforestation drive, which was praised by all dignitaries present on the occasion. Various functionaries of the civil administration also attended the function.
