Verma directs authorities on cracker-stall permissions

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 22- To discuss arrangements for coming Diwali festival, a meeting was convened by District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Mr. Sanjeev Verma.
Mr. Verma stressed on the measures to be adopted for selection of site and sale of fire crackers. He said that only after proper verification; the permission for sale of fire crackers and sites to sell crackers shall be notified. He appealed the people to avoid noise and smoke producing fire crackers and asked the Health authorities to remain fully equipped with life saving drugs. He asked for provision of special emergency ward for patients with burn injuries besides keeping ready fully equipped six Ambulances to deal with emergencies.
The DDC informed that permission for erection of wholesale dealers/stalls for crackers in the district would be accorded by the authority a fortnight before Diwali and similarly the erection of retail outlets would be given permission a week before the Diwali Festival.
The Deputy Commissioner also warned against the spurious Chinese toys available in the market and cautioned the general public about their being sub standard as these toys are posing a great health hazard. He enjoined upon public to refrain from purchase of Chinese products as these might be dangerous for their kids.
Advising people to be vigilant during the festive season, Mr. Verma impressed upon people to enter into plea bargaining and not to buy products at unmarked prices. Rather the public must see for MRP on all the products and should accordingly pay as per MRP.
Fire and Emergency services department was asked to make fire tending equipment ready on the strategic locations.
Police Department was asked to ensure law and order and patrolling during the festive season.
The DDC directed the concerned officer to ensure essential services to the people including cleanliness and sanitation in the bazaars. He directed the concerned officers to check the quality and prices of eatables.
Among others, ADC Jammu Sheetal Nanda, ACG Vivek Sharma, Joint Commissioner JMC Mr. Babu Ram, CMO Jammu Mr. Baldev Raj Sharma, SP Traffic Jammu Mr. Zahid Manhas, SP Security Mr. Mehmood Ahmed, Deputy Controller Legal Metrology Manoj Prabhakar, Asstt Labour Commissioner Ashok Kumar, XEN PHE Ashok Gandotra, XEN R&B B. L. Sharma, Deputy Director CAPD M. H. Malik and other officers were present in the meeting.
