KEM takes out procession in favour of demands | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, Sep 22:-The Kissan Ekta Manch took out a massive procession in support of their several pending demands. The procession started from Ram Leela Ground and culminated at Kathua Secretariat where the Manch activists led by Mohinder Singh submitted a charter of demands to the state government through district administration. The Manch activists demanded to open the procurement centres, to curtail the fertilizer rates and to formulate an effective and result oriented agriculture policy. While speaking on the occasion the farmers expressed their serious concern over the injustice with farmers’ community and non-serious approach of the government towards the opening of the procurement centres. They accused the government for deliberately adopting a policy to cause harassment to the farmers. They said that produce of the farmers gets wasted and damaged every year in huge quantity and the private players of the market forcibly plunder the produce of the farmers at very cheap rate. Mohinder Singh urged the coalition government to open the procurement centre in order to keep the farmers’ produce safe and to provide the adequate rates per quintal.
