PHE fails to take over Rs 2.50 Cr WSS in Kishtwar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KISHTWAR, Sep 22:-Kishtwar District particularly Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas having population of more than 1.50 lakh including 50,000 floating population are reeling under acute water shortage. To overcome the water scarcity, the NHPC envisaged an Rs 2.50 Cr Water Supply Scheme (WSS) under which it was planned to uplift water directly from tunnel of 390 MW Dool- Hasti Power project. However, the scheme has found no takers since the PHE department failed to take over the charge of this scheme from NHPC despite the authorities of NHPC have written a detailed report about the completion of water lifting scheme some two weeks ago. This water supply scheme will provide 6 inch water to PHE Kishtwar in addition to 6 Inch water already available from Naigard water supply scheme and Lalla Water Supply scheme. NHPC as a good will gesture have constructed this water supply scheme in record 5 months time as during various board meetings the demand of water lifting from Tunnel point were raised by the elected representatives of Kishtwar from time to time. According to the officials of NHPC, the test of the water lifting has already been done successfully and the end point of the 6 Inch Dia pipes have already been connected with main reservoir at Semna Colony Kishtwar. The NPHC authorities in addition to the construction of 2.50 Cr water supply scheme also installed electric transformer out of its own expenses.
