Birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari celebrated with fervour

JAMMU, September 22: Duggar Vikas Manch an umbrella organisation of
prominent Social, non-political, NGO’s and business organisations
celebrated the Birth anniversary of Maharaja hari Singh Ji at a Chowk
which is yet to be officially named after this Dogar Hero as “Maharaja
Hari Singh Chowk”.
A havan Yagya was performed on this occasion to pay homage to the
Maharaja, a son of the soil on his 116th Birth Anniversary, a great
Dogra personality.

The program started with garlanding of the statue of Maharaja Hari
Singh ji. Later on, Presidents of various organisations performed the
‘Deep Prajalwan’ ceremony.

In the inaugural address, the convener of the Manch Dineshwar Singh
Jamwal while paying tributes to Maharaja said that it is only because
of Maharaja Hari Singh that we as a State became part of the Union of
India.
While speaking on the occasion Jamwal said that few people know of his
qualities as a social and political reformer and an able
administrator.

While paying rich tributes to Maharaja, M R Bhagat, President All J&K
Megh Sudhar Sabha told the gathering about the most creditable aspect
of Maharaja Hari Singh and how he waged a relentless war against
untouchability even before Gandhi Ji’s movement in this direction.
Ved Parkash Sharma, President Dogra Brahaman Pratinidhi Sabha Jammu
paying tributes to Maharaja said that Hari Singh was essentially a
secularist.

Udey Chand, President Duggar Pradesh Party while paying tributes to
Maharaja told about the most momentous speech during the discussion on
the Federal Structure Committee report.

Yash Pal Gupta, President ACTF while paying tributes to Maharaja said
that various laws of a progressive nature which were enacted by the
Maharaja during the first years of his rue, namely the Infants
Marriage Prevention regulation, prohibiting incompatible marriages,
(under stiff opposition from orthodex Muslims), Hindu Widows
Remarriage and Suppression of immoral traffic in women Regulations.
Female Infanticide among Rajputs, which was the result of their abject
poverty, which was the result of their abject poverty, was also ended
by law.

Various other prominent persons those who spoke on the occasion
included Mulkh Raj, President GRDS Bahu Forte, Banarsi Das, President
Aggarwal Sabha Jammu, Surinder Chowdhry, Youth Presiednt BJYM, J&K
State. Purshotam Thappa played the role of Stage Secretary where as
Shakti Dutt Sharma presented vote of thanks.
