| Crackers worth Rs 1 lakh seized, four held | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sep 22:-Police arrested four persons after it conducted a raid in Pacca Danga area of old city here today and seized crackers worth about Rs 1 lakh dumped illegally in a shop.
Based on specific information that the crackers were illegally stored in Pacca Danga area, a police party headed by SDPO North Kulbir Honda conducted a raid and recovered huge consignment of firecrackers.
Four persons were arrested on the spot, who have been identified as Pawan Kumar son of Des Raj of Rehari, Suresh Kumar son of Om Parkash of Mohalla Afghana, Gagan son of Madan Lal of Lower Top Sherkhanian and Darshan Kumar son of Dhani Ram of Moalla Jogi Gate.
Police sources said that the consignment of crackers was dumped to facilitate its sale in the open market on the occasion of Deepawali but before the crackers could be delivered to the markets for sale purpose, the same were seized.
The seizure made by police also wards off any untoward incident as storage of huge quantity of crackers in residential area could have proved disastrous.
A case has been registered in this connection and the investigation was in progress.
