Mehak Bakshi from GCW Parade bags first prize in flower making

JAMMU, Sept 22: Department of Student Welfare, University of Jammu organized inter-collegiate and departmental Display Your Talent 2011-12, here today.
Director, Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance, Prof. Kuldeep. K. Sharma was the chief guest while Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, Prof. Jasbir Singh and Dean Students Welfare Prof. N.K. Tripathi were present over the function.

Co-Chairperson, Prof. Neeru Sharma, inaugurated the contest by lighting of Ceremonial lamp.

In her inaugural address Prof. Sharma, enlightened the audience with his words of wisdom and lauded the Department of Students Welfare for taking student friendly initiatives.

Prof. N.K. Tripathi, in his welcome address, spoke at length about the role of Department of Students Welfare in providing platform to the participants who aspire to go to National and Inter-National Diaspora.

Speaking on the occasion Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, Prof Jasbir Singh, dwelt on the recent changes made in the format of holding “Display Your Talent” in one go and said the students falling in the merit list shall get a chance to participate in North Zone Inter-University competition as well as at National Youth Festival to be organized by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi & the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in near future.

K.K. Sharma, Dr. Rajkumar and Dr. Ashwani Sharma, were the adjudicators. Dr. Sanjay Sharma, was the Teacher in-charge for the Flower Arrangement and made the participants conversant with the Rules and Regulation as well as supervised the contest.

Mehak Bakshi from Government Women College, Parade was adjudged first while Simran Gupta from Government College for Engineering and Technology and Mobeen Sayeed from the Department of Political Science, University of Jammu, bagged the second and third prize respectively. The Certificates of merit were awarded to Tarun Sharma from Government M.A.M College, Jammu, Priya Varma from Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar, Rashi Manhas from Department of English, University of Jammu and Asha Rani from Sai Shyam College of Education.
The programme was compeered by Secretary, Students Cultural Council, Rani Kumar, and Joint Secretary, Gourab Sharma.

Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Dr Parmeshwari Sharma, Dr R K Rampal, Dr Samridhi Arora, Dr Sarika Manhas, Dr. Savita Nayyer, Dr. Anupama Vohra, Dr. Sanjay Bhatia, Dr. Lalit Sen, Dr. Anju Thapa, Dr. Parvinder Kumar, Dr. Surinder Pal Sharma, Vijay Atri, Dharampal Sharma, Vinay Thusoo, Pooja Langeh and the teacher-in-charges besides students.
