| Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, widely respected as Bapu and decorated with the title of "Father of the Nation", also achieved the distinction of being recognized as "the father of non-violence''. He adopted non violent means in life and played a very important role in taking forward the course of Indian national movement. This great Indian believed in the mantra of "AHINSA" and conveyed a message that it was a powerful weapon to achieve the final goal of freedom. Gandhian path of non-violence still hold importance and whirlwind in Indian politics. Gandhi called his overall method of nonviolent movement as cooper tion movement Satyagraha. Namak Andolan, aimed at appealing the masses to be part of disobedience campaign. What an impact of Gandhiji's non-violence movement had on the leaders across the world can be well judged from the fact that Nelson Mandella too opted to follow the path of Gandhiji in his country, where the white treated black as second class citizens. Non-violent protests seeks a 'win-win' solution in majority of cases. It was not only Gandhiji but Jai Parkash Narain's non-violence movement brought a new and unprecedented political revolution in India against corruption, mainly against the permit Raj system. it too was a peaceful movement, which changed the political scenario in mid 70s. Chipko Aandolan, which enlightened even the most illiterate section of the society on the vital issues and their affect. It also came to be called "Peaceful Tree huggingmovement" as it educated the masses about the harmful effects of deforestration. The present generation might have been learning in books or watching in plays, movies or dramas that Gandhiji took the path of non-violence, forced the British to leave India without indulging into any direct fight of weapons, rifles, tanks or missiles. Any one reading these things get curiosity and dream alas " had I been born in those historical days and contributed a little towards noble cause. They need not to feel like that. Today, one more nation loving citizen, devoting for the cause of motherland and shedding all luxuries of life for the service of nation and mankind, For them, the God sent a golden opportunity. A person, a very simple person, a nation loving person, a kdadi kurta wearing person came into scene nick named Anna Hazarre, came and became hero, became talk of the nation, became news for the media, became a heart beat of youth, became headache for the corrupt Union ggovernment and in local language " Chaa Gaya, chaa Gaya. Really it is great honour for a common Indian. This 74 year young old man, received tremendous response by the people across the country. Every Indian citizen, hindu, Muslim, sikh,Christian was seen on roads not for any religious gathering or hormony but to extend support to Anna. The million doillar question remains to be answered. Why this Anna getting so much popularity ? Why this Anna remained in News for days together ? The answer is very simple. This simple Indian understood the problem of a simple Indian. He came to conclusion that every Indian is affected by corruption existing at different levels in different organizations, the government in particular, and needs to be rooted out. It is said "history repeats itself". It seemed to be a proverb or a sweet saying but the Anna's non-violent movement against corruption and involvement of people in thousands, reminded the nation of the one non-violence movement undertaken by Gandhiji. It has once again proved beyond any doubt that ":AHINSA' or say non violence still receive over whelming response, is still effective and Anna's personality endorses the fact that honest, corrupt people still exist, although less in number, but get public respect and have long standing in the public as they treat him the other Gandhi. |
