Congress allowing anti-India forces to muddy waters in Kashmir? | Sultan's Dangerous Visit | | Rustam jammu, Sept 22: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary came to Srinagar to attend a marriage party, stayed there for four days and left the summer capital yesterday for New Delhi from where he would go to wherefrom he had come. He called it a private visit. He met almost all the separatists as well as some so-called mainstream Kashmiri leaders, including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Interlocutor Radha Kumar also met with him and reportedly discussed the issues confronting the state as well as India-Pakistan relations, but refused to divulge what transpired between the two. Likewise, the "mainstream" Kashmiri leaders, who met with the visiting former POJK Prime Minister, also did not disclose what transpired between them. But everyone knows what they had discussed in camera. What had they to discuss except the Indian Jammu and Kashmir and the ways and means that could help Pakistan and the Kashmiri leaders to implement their break-India agenda and finish the "unfinished agenda of partition". However, while the so-called mainstream Kashmiri leaders as well as Radha Kumar thought it prudent not to share the details on what transpired during those meetings, Chaudhary was candid, forthright, and even aggressive. He used the Indian soil to advocate his pernicious views under the very nose of the so-called authorities in the state, who enjoy the full backing of the so-called authorities in New Delhi charged with the responsibility of protecting and advancing further the country's geo-political interests and preserving the unity and integrity of India, and went scot-free. It appeared as if he was speaking in Pakistan or POJK for Pakistan. In fact, what he told reporters yesterday at Srinagar a couple of hours before he left the summer capital as a very satisfied man left none in any doubt that he was no more than the mouthpiece of Islamabad and that his mission was not just to attend a marriage party but his basic objective was to undertake activities no Pakistani had undertaken in the Indian Jammu and Kashmir ever since its accession to India and he did all that he wanted to do unhindered and unchecked. So much so that he refused to accord legitimacy to the office Omar Abdullah has been occupying and openly asked New Delhi to refrain from hanging Afzal Guru, involved and convicted in the deadly Parliament terrorist attack case. It would be only appropriate to reproduce verbatim what he told reporters to put things in perspective and establish that there are elements in the Indian political establishment in general and Congress party in particular who are desperate appease Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists. It is indeed a very dangerous development. What did the outspoken Chaudhary say? He, among other controversial things, said: "Afzal Guru, the Parliament attack convict, should not be executed as it has the potential of creating trouble in Jammu and Kashmir...Government of India should not take any such step at this time which derails the peace process between India and Pakistan…They should hold talks but unless and until they resolve the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, peace can't be guaranteed in the region. Even the resolution of the issue of Jammu and Kashmir is key to the peace in Afghanistan as well…Pakistan has made it clear to the United States that is suffering defeat in Afghanistan that unless the issue of Jammu and Kashmir is not resolved the region will continue to be in turmoil. We have no objection to India-Pakistan friendship but if the dialogue process has to be successful and result-oriented, the Jammu and Kashmir leadership has to be included in it as it is the people of the State who suffered due to non-resolution of the issue…Kashmir is the core issue between India and Pakistan while other outstanding issues were mere irritants which will fall in place once the issue of Jammu and Kashmir is resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of the State (read Pakistanis)…My visit is the first of its kind in last over six decades and such visits should be facilitated by both India and Pakistan…Though he was on a private visit but he met the entire leadership of Kashmir during his short stay and was taking a positive message back home…There were other leaders who also wanted to meet me but there was shortage of time…I do not recognize mainstream politicians like Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as elected representatives of the people of Kashmir…My short answer is no...Officially Pakistan and PoK Governments does not recognize Jammu and Kashmir Government and the election process. But Omar Abdullah and other leaders of the mainstream political parties are no doubt stakeholders and they take part in the intra-Kashmir and other conferences that are held on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir". It is hardly necessary to explain the implications of what Chaudhary told reporters as each and every word that spoke is self-explanatory. Suffice it to say that what he said must disturb the whole nation to the extent that it takes on the Congress-led UPA Government and expose it as it has converted the Indian State into a banana republic. The Indian nation is quite capable of defending the Indian State. That the Indian nation is very, very strong is quite evident from what it did during the Anna Hazare-sponsored crusade against corruption last month. |
