| 'Resentment' brewing over non representation to communities in BJP body | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 22: Confronted with a host of unsettled issues, the state unit of BJP is facing resentment and disgruntlement on a count which the leadership cannot afford to keep lingering and delaying for long. It is almost two years now when the state president was elected and a 'reasonable' representation to communities like Kashmiri Pandits , Sikhs and SCs in the state body of office bearers has remained elusive so far.
BJP, ironically is party which claims to be the true sympathiser of displaced Kashmir Pandits and has raked up issues related to the community to hilt as their main political plank as and when required to bash its political rivals. Post displacement from Kashmri Valley due to militancy,the Community too felt on the on the lines that BJP was the sole party which could ameliorate its sufferings on various fronts. Indeed the party leadership plunged itself into the activities like immediate shelter and relief measures when the community uprooted from the homeland needed it most. But this 'euphoria' of sympathy gradually faded out and the party could not do much beyond initial enthusiasm of 'help' notwithstanding the fact it led the union government at that point of time.
However, the patriotism, nationalism tag and baggage as the KP community carries itself , BJP is the party towards which most of the community people still look forward to as a matter of right . Sources said though no community leader associated with the party for along time is asking openly for representation but resentment is growing at various levels on this count. "This is bound to affect their vote bank among the community when the party requires it next….", said a KP leader. The community only expects that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat who is on J&K visit currently takes congnizance of the this non represnetation as the RSS has always been reiterating its solidarity with the community … he said adding that the expectation is there because RSS is the organisation which if means can give 'directions' on this count.
But the state leadership has so far not reciprocated this deeply embedded faith with requisite steps like minimal representation among the office bearers comprising huge list otherwise. Though there are so many people from amongst the community who are affiliated at different quarters with the party. Kps are not the lone community; the party has not given representation to Sikh community as well at any level in the party hierarchy so far. Even more surprising is the fact that leadership which claims that it intends to take along the Muslim community in its functioning as well, has so far not given proper and adequate representation to this community in a Muslim majority state like J&K. The state leadership has not bothered to give adequate and reasonable representation to SC community as well in its hierarchy of office bearers , particularly among women. Though there is a separate cell of women in the party chrsitened as Mahila Morcha but consequent upon 33 % reservation to women in the party, there is little or no representation to women from SC community which has become a cause of resentment and disappointment among the community. |
