| Time ripe for resolving Kashmir imbroglio: Omar | | ’NC will come back with thumping majority’ | | Jammu | Dec5 Criticizing state coalition government for its alleged failure in redressing the grievances of the people of the state, member parliament and NC Chief, Omar Abdullah today said that the coalition government is bound to fall any time and its days are numbered. He said that both Mufti and Azad have befooled the people of Jammu and Kashmir by giving slogans like healing touch, peace with dignity, double shift and good governance but nothing practical has been achieved. “Both Mufti and Azad have never addressed a rally together, earlier it was Mufti and now it is Azad who is visible everywhere, it indicates that there is no coalition on ground,” he added. “We have waited for four and half years and played the role of responsible opposition in and outside Assembly, but the time is not far away when the coalition government will fall of its own and National conference will come in power again. The present government has also failed in protecting the life of innocent civilians and also failed in providing secure environment to the tourists and the investors from other parts of the country, he said. Omar cited analogy of neighbouring Himachal Pradesh and said the coalition government should see that investors have invested more than rupees 25000 crore there as compared to Rs 2500 crore in our state. This, he said, was significant in view of the situation in HP very similar to J and K where also no outsider can purchase or lease the land. “Investors are afraid of the deteriorating situation in J&K as they do not want to take any risk.” Launching further attack on the coalition government, Omar said, “It was Farooq Abdullah’s dream to see J&K self reliant in power generation and for this he had set the target for completion of Baglihar Project in 2004 but unfortunately the decision of stopping the work on this prestigious project was taken by the Mufti government which has delayed the project. This, he added, points at government’s unfriendly attitude towards the people. The much publicized economy package of Rs 24000 crore for the development of the state is not visible on ground though the present regime talked about the execution of all works in double shift. Time has come now to resolve the vexed problem of Kashmir and there is no better option than to solve it now, Omar said while referring to the statement of Pakistan president Parvez Mussharaff. He however, immediately added that no boundaries can be redrawn and the Govt of India should avail this golden opportunity to solve the Kashmir issue, he added
