Court grants five days police remand of ZEPO & other allegedly involved in multi-lacs scam | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, September-23 (JNF):- Special Judge Anti-corruption Jammu Pawan Dev Kotwal today granted five days police custody remand of Abdul Rashid Bhat s/o Abdul Jabar Bhat r/o Village Bonzwar Tehsil Kishtwar then the ZEPO Marwah Dachin and Mukhtair Ahmed Shah s/o Ghulam Mohd Shah r/o Village Dugga Tehsil Kishtwar the then Teacher Incharge Accounts at ZEO Officer in Mawah allegedly involved in fraudulently withdrawing an amount of 21,68,926 from the Government treasury Nowpachi against non-existent/ fake teachers during the period between April 2010 to November 2010. The accused persons Abdul Rashid Bhat and Mukhtiar Ahmed Shah have been arrested by the investigating officer inspector Munir Ahmed of SVO with prayer of seven days’ police remand of the accused. Special Judge Anti-corruption Jammu observed that case dairies have been perused, the accused appear to be involved in FIR No 13/2011 P/S VOJ u/s 5(1) (c) (d) r/w 5(2) PC Act 2006 r/w sections 467/468/471/420/409/ 120-B RPC and have been arrested on September 22, 2011. The perusal of case dairies revealed that accusation attributed to the accused is of serious nature and requires a detailed investigation and further custodial interrogation of the accused as such necessitates the grant of remand of the accused to police custody The accused are therefore remanded to police custody for a period of five days. Court directed that the accused be produced on September 27, 2011. The IO has been directed to get the accused medically examined after every 24 hours.
