57th ICS-IS conference begins | Every DH to get CT Scan facility: Sham | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Sep 23:57th Annual Conference of International College of Surgeons, Indian Section (ICS-IS) commenced here today at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre. The 4-day conference was organized by J&K Chapter of International College of Surgeons, Indian Section and Institute of Kidney & Urological Disease Research Centre, Sonwar. Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma, who was guest of honour on the occasion, said that provision of patient care to the people is a constitutional obligation and for the purpose over 3400 primary and secondary healthcare institutions and 15 tertiary care institutes manned by 40,000 officials are functioning in the state. He said J&K state is providing 92 % Indoor Patient Care in public sector and was marked at No.1 rank in the country. Sham said Health and Medical Education sector is the priority sector of the government and various mega projects have been initiated to improve infrastructure. He said the government has started Laparoscopic Surgery at district level, adding that CT scan facility would also be started at district hospitals shortly. Every district hospital has critical care ambulance, he added. Dr. Naseer Ahmad Shah and other outstanding surgeons were honoured on the occasion. The Dignitaries also released Souvenir of ICS-IS on the occasion. Among others, President, ICS-IS Rajesh C Shah, Prof. Muner Khan, Secretary, ICS-IS Dr. Parvez Sheikh and galaxy of eminent surgeons from abroad and India were present.
