| Better infra must for development of rural belts: Dy CM | | Addresses mega rallies at Bakore, Hamirpur Directs for special Girdawari | |  JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 23 – Describing roads as backbone of rural economy, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand said development of rural belts of the state is closely linked to a well laid network of roads and bridges’, adding that better infrastructure opens new vistas for economic activities in far-flung areas.
Mr. Tara Chand was addressing series of well attended public rallies at Bakore and Hamirpur in Khour Block, today.
“Our aim is to connect new areas as well as undertake new infrastructure projects in far-flung and rural areas, as improved infrastructure is directly connected to their all round economic development,” he said.
Enlisting various infrastructure projects launched in the area, the Deputy Chief Minister said work on prestigious Khour-Sunderbani road project is already underway and would soon be thrown open for public, adding that once completed the direct road link would be a boon for the people of the area.
While responding to demand of bridge over river Chenab to connect Khour with Pargwal, Mr. Tara Chand said government is aware of the problems being faced by the people due to lack of direct connectivity with the block headquarter, adding that foundation stone of the bridge has already been laid and work on the project would be started at the earliest.
Taking note of the damage to crop of pulses in the area, the Deputy Chief Minister directed revenue authorities to undertake special Girdawari and submit the case for proper compensation. He also directed Irrigation authorities to immediately undertake de-silting of canals, so that water reaches to the tail ends and poor farmers of the area are able to utilize the water to the maximum.
Mr. Tara Chand said government work on mega development projects to upgrade infrastructure in rural area is afoot at fast pace and on completion the projects would address the infrastructure requirements of these areas.
