Keen contest on cards, Saraf ahead | JUTA president's election | | Mishu Gupta JAMMU, Sept 23: If interactions with faculty members are any indication, Dr. Neelam Saraf of Hindi Department is all set to take over as next President of prestigious Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA). A team of Early Times interacted with all the voters of JUTA and found out that Saraf has an edge over the other two candidates, namely Prof. Dalip Singh of mathematics department and Prof. Rajinder Gupta of economics department. Dr. Dalip Singh is contesting for the third time while Prof. Rajinder Gupta and Dr. Neelam Saraf have made it to the big league for the first times. Faculty members said that Saraf has an edge over the other two potential candidates. It needs to be mentioned here that earlier, Prof. Ved Ghai was the president of JUTA and now after Prof. Ghai, Dr. Neelam Saraf is the only female professor who is contesting the elections for this post. Committed towards the restoration of the dignity of esteemed teachers of university, faculty members said that Saraf has vast administrative experience and all qualities to take JUTA to new heights. A professor on the condition of anonymity said that contest is between Dr. Dalip Singh and Dr. Neelam Saraf as both of them are very popular in teaching fraternity of university. He said that JUTA team members who have been elected unopposed are also canvassing in favour of Dr. Dalip Singh. Another professor said that a particular candidate of the three is contesting the election just to gain popularity in campus. He said "whosoever wins, post, one thing is for sure that the teachers are very excited abut the upcoming elections. Dr. Neelam Saraf surely has an edge over the other contestants but it would be clear only on the day of election, who would stand where." |
