| Suicide by Lt Co Jha | | A railway employee could help investigators unravel the mystery | | Jammu, Dec 6 A railway employee believed to a close friend of Lt-Col Pankaj Jha could help investigating agencies of both army and state police unravel the mystery behind the alleged suicide committed by him in Mahore on December 1. Highly placed sources said, “before Lt-Col Panjaj Jha shot himself dead at his official residence in Mahore on December 1 he had received string of SMS messages from a railway employee and was in direct contact”. Sources said, the contents of the SMS received by Lt-Col Jha and his replies have already come under scanner and could help investigators throw some light on the reasons behind taking extreme step. Sources said soon after the shocking incident took place the mobile phone of Lt-Col Jha was seized and recent call lists /message box was scanned to trace out the details with whom Lt-Col Jha was in contact before shooting himself. Sources said, if need be, the same railway employee might be picked up by the state police and army authorities for carrying out detailed investigations to know in detail what promoted Lt-Col Jha to allegedly commit suicide. It is learnt that Lt-Col Jha had not moved out of Jammu and Kashmir and was present in either of the three places Katra,Udhampur and Jammu before returning to Mahore. It may be mentioned that despite taking leave between November 29 and December 7 Lt-Col Jha had joined his duty on December 1 before allegedly killing himself with his service weapon inside his house in Mahore. To make matters worse for investigators, family members of the senior army officer have also leveled serious allegations against his superior officers claiming that Jha was under pressure from his superiors. Investigators are also focusing on tracing movement of Lt-Col Pankaj Jha after he left the sector headquarters in Mahore . They believed that if Jha had applied for a nine day leave what prompted him to return back and whether he visited his home in Bhopal during the small gap or not and whether he was present somewhere else. A senior police officer connected with the investigations said, it is important for us to trace his movement and antecedents of those with whom he was present during the time as no one could visit Bhopal and return within less than 72 hours. |
